Overview:

Trekking the mountain gorillas in Rwanda, before heading off into the wilds of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Time to reflect at the Genocide Memorial and a free day in Ruhengeri to visit Dian Fossey's grave, hike to see the golden monkeys and visit a Batwa (Pygmy) village. A safari is a journey and true journeys in Africa unfold and are of an adventurous nature. The unexpected can arise, so do allow for this.

Day 1
Rwanda

Meet up in Kigale, Rwanda's capital city, Ruhengeri and The Virungas.

Optionals: Genocide museum and memorial.

Days 2 - 3
Rwanda


Two days in Ruhengeri.

Optionals: Mountain gorilla trek in either Parc Nacional de Volcans (Rwanda) or Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Uganda), orphanage and preschool visit, Batwa village visit, golden monkey trek, visit to Dian Fossey's grave.

Days 4-9
Tanzania


Rusomo Falls, Mwanza, Game drives in the Serengeti, The Grumeti, with guided game drives in Ngorongoro Crater, Mto Wa Mbu markets, evening celebratory barbecue on our arrival in Arusha.

Optionals:Game walks and evening game drives in the Grumeti, Olduvai Gorge Museum, Maasai Village, camel safari.

CAMPING, BREAKFAST & DINNER WHILST TRAVELLING ON THE TRUCK i.e.

9 breakfasts and 9 evening meals including a local meal and a barbecue in Arusha
9 nights camping (or alternative dorm stay whilst in Ruhengeri)

Transport in a fully equipped and dieseled expedition truck/vehicle including all camping and cooking gear, a fridge, gas cooker, tents, sleeping mats etc.

• You will need spending money to cover drinks, lunch and souvenirs whilst on tour. Some campsites en route also have simple huts or chalets in which you can stay if you feel like a break from camping. Spending money is then also needed to cover if you want to occasionally upgrade from your tent!
The recommended spending money for the Wildlife Encounter is: £100 - £130

• Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 - 9 months after your trip finishes.

• Optional Tours - A recommended typical budget for your optional excursions that you might pay for once in Africa would be : £380 - £440.  Some clients spend more, some less. The above is a typical estimate selecting from the following main choices during the 9 days. Do re-check your budget looking at what might tempt you.
